The Three Sisters

The Three Sisters

The Three Sisters are gorgeous women who adore their parents and one another. They asked me to paint something that represents their family and life together. And what a treat it was.

The painting was a surprise 70th birthday present for their beautiful mother.

What struck me most about this family was their adoration for their parents. Their dad passed away a few years before. So Emma, one of the sisters, said she would love him to be represented in the painting somehow. They all had a very strong connection to him; even talking about him made her well up with tears and her mum missed him terribly.

So, I wanted to give him a significant role in the painting. If you look closely there is a little frog sitting on their mum’s shoulder. He is her Prince Charming and life partner; always whispering sweet-nothings in her ear. He will forever be there with her, helping watch over the family.

Their mum is embracing her three daughters, encouraging them to flourish, love families of their own and enjoy life to the best of their abilities. Together, they share stories and create happy memories. Each sister brings something unique to the group, but they all accept each other for who they are and how they live their individual lives.

The sisters’ new families fly in front of them; their husbands are the sparkling fish and the butterflies are their children. Each family has their own unique dynamic, filling this painting with so many special moments.
