The Embrace came about when a couple from Melbourne asked me to paint a portrait of them and what they meant to each other.
When they first met, one of them was very unwell. But what kept her alive was the pure miracle of love. It worked. She got better and they continue to lead a full and happy life together.
Their story of what life had presented at them, and how they conquered it, struck a strong chord with me.
The Embrace means more than a loving embrace. I wanted it to portray physically finding someone and embracing them, as well as embracing the love of life itself. Projecting the true, inner power of happiness can heal and protect.
Love can conquer all.
