The Butterflies Met The Fish

The Butterflies Met The Fish

This is Number 10 in my series of oil paintings, Women of Influence.

It’s an emotional painting about a woman quietly dealing with inner conflict.

I had a strong vision for this piece from the beginning. A silent woman surrounded by fish, representing her emotions.

Despite the chaos swirling around her, she appears calm and uninterrupted. Quiet. Serene. Fully surrounded by her feelings, yet not afraid of them. She doesn’t need to fix them or change them. She simply needs to sit with them.

Our thoughts guide us. We are in control of every action and every thought. Sitting with your turmoil can help you realise that you are the only person who truly needs to understand your own truth.

If you sit quietly with your emotions, without trying to fix them, you begin to find self-love. When you send love towards your pain, you can move through feelings of overwhelm and slowly find your way back to the light.

The rosy pink moths in this painting symbolise joy and a higher power. Moths naturally gravitate towards light in the darkness. They are often seen as messengers from nature’s spirits, reminding us to do the same and keep moving towards the light.

The four monarch butterflies represent transformation and courage. They remind us of our strength and our ability to grow through difficult times.

The many fish spiralling around her represent deep emotion and life’s complexities. Like the fish, she can choose to swim in the shallows of life or dive deeper to discover more about herself.
