Whenever I get a strong feeling or image in my head, I quickly sketch it out so I can work on it later. It happens to me a lot, and it’s how I came up with the idea for this painting, The Butterfly Angel.
Strong feelings are a result of what I’m going through at the time, and these images help me get through that or understand it better. Then hopefully once I paint it, it can help someone else as well. It’s the main reason I paint.
Painting helps me have a better understanding of the world and I love to share this understanding.
The Butterfly Angel depicts an angel standing in the grass as butterflies gather to create her gown. She represents patience and hope. The right things will gravitate towards us if we remain still. Patience allows this to happen. No force is needed, the right things in our lives will come when the time is right.
Shooting stars represent an appreciation of a short but glorious moment in time, and of exquisite beauty. A moment might last a split second but can be remembered for a lifetime. Everlasting.
Butterflies often represent transformation and transition. They emerge from their cocoon, not sure of what they will become, until they spread their wings and realise they can fly.
